Rollin' into school, ready to be shaped
I see the Grade R learner as starting out like a circle—open, undefined, and rolling in every direction, still exploring who they are, what they like, and how the world works. At this stage, they’re looking to those around them—teachers, parents, and friends—for guidance, boundaries, and inspiration. Through structure, nurturing, and daily experiences, teachers gently help shape and guide them. By the end of the Grade R year, they begin to form more defined edges—like a triangle—with a stronger sense of identity, stability, and understanding of the world around them. Ready to take the next step in their learning journey.
